Join Our Excellence Initiative as Mentors and Mentees
Black Student Peer Mentoring Program
Our Black Student Peer Mentoring Program (BSPMP) is a dynamic initiative designed to foster a supportive and enriching environment for university and college students. In BSPMP, advanced Black university students in their 3rd or 4th year mentor first year undergraduate students. Similarly, graduate-level students mentor upper-year undergraduate students. BSPMP tries to pair mentors and mentees in the same or related program.
The trained mentors who bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and insights help mentees to successfully navigate the challenges of their new educational environment. BSPMP focuses on building a sense of community, providing a space where mentees can comfortably seek guidance, ask questions, and receive valuable advice from their more experienced peers.
Through personalized mentorship, mentees gain not only academic support but also practical advice on adapting to university life, managing coursework, finding house and job opportunities, and making the most of the opportunities available.

Black Student and Black Professional Mentoring Program
This Black Student and Black Professional Mentorship Program (BSBPMP) is designed to support the transition of final-year students into the professional workforce. In this program, we aim to bridge the gap between academia and the working world by connecting ambitious final-year Black students with successful Black professionals in their respective fields. This BSBPMP mentorship provides invaluable insights, guidance, and real-world perspectives to empower these students as they navigate the critical transition from university to the professional realm.
Our mentorship program is a beacon for fostering meaningful connections and mentor-mentee relationships. Final-year students will benefit from personalized guidance, career advice, and industry insights from seasoned Black professionals who have successfully navigated the professional landscape. Whether it’s refining job search strategies, polishing interview skills, or gaining a deeper understanding of their chosen field, this program is designed to equip students with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in their early careers.
Through this transformative mentorship experience, we not only aim to enhance the professional development of final-year students but also contribute to the cultivation of a supportive network that extends throughout their careers. By fostering a sense of community and mentorship, we empower the next generation of Black professionals to excel in their chosen fields and make a lasting impact on the workforce.

Workshops
We organize workshops to empower Black Students on their academic and professional journey. These workshops focus on equipping students with essential skills, knowledge, and tools to navigate the challenges they may encounter throughout their university or college experience. The workshops cover a range of topics (e.g., Academic Excellence, Career and Leadership Development, Time Management, Goal Setting, etc) tailored to address the specific needs and aspirations of Black students, fostering an environment of support, encouragement, and excellence.
Social Events
LEI organizes social events to foster a sense of community, provide networking opportunities, and create a vibrant space for mentorship connections to flourish. By combining fun and networking, these social events aim to strengthen relationships among mentors, mentees, and other community participants, building a supportive network that extends beyond academic and professional realms. These events range from meet and greet (e.g., informal gathering of mentors and mentees), community service initiatives (e.g., Black Students give back to the community through volunteer activities), to outdoor activities and potlucks.
