Goal
The goal of LOY EXCELLENTIA INITIATIVE (LEI) is to foster excellence among Black students by establishing connections between advanced university/college students and those in their first year/early stages of their academic journey. Simultaneously, this excellence initiative aims to bridge the gap between successful Black professionals in diverse fields and advanced/final-year Black college /university students. Through our mentoring program, we actively foster and facilitate meaningful mentorship relationships both among students and between students and professionals in their respective fields.
Mission Statement
LOY EXCELLENTIA INITIATIVE (LEI)’s mission is to empower and uplift African/Black students in Canada by providing a supportive and enriching mentoring experience. We are committed to fostering a sense of community, nurturing personal and academic growth, and cultivating leadership skills within the African/Black student community.
Through intentional mentorship pairings, LEI aims to create a platform where experienced mentors, who share similar cultural backgrounds, guide and inspire mentees to overcome challenges, excel academically, and achieve their set goals. Our program is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, ensuring that every Black student feels valued, supported, and equipped with the tools necessary to thrive.
By fostering meaningful connections, nurturing a sense of belonging, and emphasizing the importance of cultural identity, LEI seeks to break down barriers and empower Black students to reach their fullest potential within and outside of the school. We believe that through this mentorship program, we can create a positive ripple effect that not only impacts the individual Black student but also contributes to the broader community and society.
Join us in building a legacy of academic excellence, resilience, and empowerment among Blacks. Together, through our excellence initiative, we can inspire and uplift the next generation of Black leaders, scholars, and changemakers.
